About
unnamed.jpg

We are a small consort of 8–12 singers, with many years’ experience of choral singing between us. We sing the usual small-group choral repertoire, ranging from the early 16th century to arrangements of contemporary songs.

We rehearse weekly at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Fen Ditton, Cambridge.

We give about six concerts a year and sing at the occasional service, both in Cambridge and in surrounding villages.

We perform fundraising concerts free of charge  (e.g. for churches or charity events), and are available to sing at private events (e.g. weddings, parties) for a negotiable fee.

Musical director:  Colin Fludgate

Colin won a choral exhibition to Cambridge, where he sang in Jesus College Choir, studying singing with Tim Brown at Clare College. He was later a lay clerk at Chelmsford Cathedral. He went on to teach and direct music in schools for many years, and now teaches all kinds of music to all kinds of people.

Membership

We’re always interested to hear from potential new members.

If you’d like to arrange an audition, please email the director

Colin Fludgate on colinpfludgate@gmail.com.

While we primarily value musical and vocal potential, members will generally be experienced singers with a high level of musicianship and good sight-reading ability. All our singers have light, clear voices, and it’s essential for us that the voices blend well together, with no single voice standing out.

We rehearse weekly at the Church of St Mary the Virgin in Fen Ditton, Cambridge. Being such a small group, in which every voice matters, we do expect singers to attend almost all rehearsals.

The member subscription rate is currently £10 per month.
